Acute Bronchitis.
I never, ever want to be sick again. Ev-er! After Shankgiving (Thanksgiving) last year, i contracted Streplocccusuos, whatever or however it's spelled, i don't know. but it sucked asss. Everytime i swallowed, or attempted too swallow, it would be like i had broken glass down my throat. So i got over that crap, took about two days from work, not to mention half days. Did the usual, went to the Doctor, got the meds and got better. A month later, here i am doing the same thing. Except this time my throat wasn't hurting at all. I had gotten Acute Bronchitis, at least that what the doctor wrote on my report.
I haven't been this sick since i was in High School, and the man, the nostalgia just isn't worth it. So i'm still hacking away, and i'm on 2 antibiotics. did you know that Bronchitis is an infection of your Lung's lining. in this case it's my lungs. and it sucks.
Ever since i was 4 years old i've had the combination of asthma and bronchitis. i hated those days, the smell, the feeling, the sight of being sick. I stopped using a certain vapor rub my parents used to put on me for about 4 years. The smell of it just didn't sit well anymore. Just bad memories associated with it. I remember missing a month of school many times. I remember the stack of make-up homeowork i had. I dreaded those days.
When i got sick recently i found myself using that same vapor rub. the vapor rub is called White Flower, and my mother and almost my whole extended family swears by its 'magical' qualities. it's smells good, and burns when you put too much of it on you. but it does relieve congestion almost 'magically'. so i put it on me, which is probably the first time in 4-5 years.
I had a 103.8 fever and all the things that come with it. Like, delerium, nausea, and headache. the delerium was the worst part. i was alone that night, since my roomate was out of town, and Lidia worked the next day. i was forced to really take care of myself and at the same time make sure the house was intact and my bills were mailed. I hate being sick. Man, do i have the most effed up nightmares when i'm sick. it's not your typical nightmares; it's like being awake and dreaming at the same time. i remember trying to get ready for bed and i just sat there trying to collect myself. it's not a nightmare of anything (like monster, demons, etc..), it was just a feeling. the anxiety is maddening.
Lessons I Re-Learned being Sick:
-always eat food before taking antibiotics, regardless if it says you can take it without anything in your stomach.
-if you feel like throwing up a good way to keep it down is to suck on a cube of ice or any kind of hard candy.
-humidifiers work wonders. you don't need to take meds to loosen phlegm. (for me it worked, and i know Amy said it made things worse for her. so use caution)
-soup is your best friend. Mushroom soup to be exact.
-cold + rain + getting wet = bronchitis for me.
well, there's probably more and it all came back to me one day as i was sitting down wanting to vomit.
so i'm at work right now and it's boring. can somebody please make it 5pm already?
